In Winston's pedigree, two proven sport horse families are brought together. The sire, Toledo VDL, has made a strong impression with his own exceptional qualities and was bred out of a half-sister to the Grand Prix sport and breeding stallion Harley VDL. On the dam's side, this colt descends from the renowned Nuberta mare family, which was successfully developed by Stal Roelofs. The granddam, Zbuberth, has a well-known half-sister in the Grand Prix show jumper Balaboeska DDH (by Germus R), with whom Jeroen Dubbeldam achieved numerous placings at the highest international level. She is also a half-sister to the 1.50 m jumper M.Buberth 33 (by Prince Paradiso), ridden by Henry Turrell. This direct maternal line has also produced top international jumpers such as the 1.50/1.60 m horses Puissance (by Cavalier), Titanic (by Cavalier), and the Grand Prix stallion Rubert R (by Mermus R).
